The first training of Active Citizens programme at Nguyen Tat Thanh high school

In the collaboration between CSDS and British Council Vietnam, the I Commit-Active Citizens training has organized in last 2 weekends for 30 high school participants from Nguyen Tat Thanh high school. The purpose of the training is improve the capabilities and skills of youth to work effectively in their own particular communities.

Through the first part of the training, participants have experienced 2 modules of Active Citizens programme:

  • Me and community
  • Me and you

Participants worked in home team of 5 people, discuss and identify their communities. Many aspect of society have defined such as: environment, education, social equality, sustainable development, compassion… and significant social issues: poverty and hunger, community services, wars, lack of creative education…


Using the visualization and passionately presentations, each team had showed their dream communities and exchanged ideas.

In the second day, all the students worked individually on draw a picture about themselves and their partners. The activity led to the lesson of “making assumption” about people. Participants have learned the mind set of communicate with people in community without making judgement and assumption as well as inter – culture dialogue module of Active Citizens programme. Especially, they have identified the principles and obstacles in group communication and working.





Following activity of the afternoon section was “Body language” and “The power of question”. Facilitated by a expertise facilitator, participants have actively experienced the power of body language in conversation and self – encouraging, the power of motivational question.


Active Citizens is a social leadership training programme that promotes intercultural dialogue and community-led social development.

Through the programme, we bring together people with different beliefs and perspectives to learn from and share with each other. Working with our partners around the globe, we train participants in the skills and knowledge needed to affect social change in their communities.

Active Citizens connects thousands of like-minded people around the world who collectively want to make a fairer and more inclusive society.
