Through the project “Increase Access and Quality of Primary Education” coordinated by the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS), with the funding from the German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ), a primary school was built in the village of Pa Che 2, Van Ho commune, Moc Chau district, Son La province. This school will help to increase the level of education and the learning in the small villages of Vietnam. The school was built thanks to the donations of the family and friends of the former German Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Claus Wunderlich, through the W.P. Schmitz Foundation.
On the 3rd of May 2013, the inauguration of the new school was organized with the presence of the Vice Ambassador of Germany to
Vietnam and many local leaders. Mr. Wunderlich’s wife and daughter also represented at the event and gave the schools some teaching aids including some terrestrial globes, and maps and sport instruments.
Nghia Tan Primary School in Hanoi, through CSDS, sent a donation of 1626 notebooks to schools in Van Ho Commune.
After the event, the group of volunteers from the Sustainable Development Club (SDC) organized social activities with the children, such as cleaning the school in order to make them aware of the environment, and SDC members also showed some educational movies for the kids, with the intention of teaching them how to make some things by hand.
