In Vietnam, education and success in scholarship are still one of the parents’ main focuses regarding the education of their children. Pressure on the children is though quite huge. An optimal development of the children is vital to the society as they will build the future world. Based on this fact, CSDS creates a series of programs to address education issues that the children daily encounter in the traditional education system. Many people agree that the needs to improve the teaching methods in the Vietnamese schools are huge. The concept of self-development is new in Vietnam and is not included in the teaching or educational approaches. However, the awareness about the necessity to listen to each individual specific need is increasing. In this context, this Education Program for Children wants to take into consideration the desire and the curiosity of the children in learning and playing by proposing many diverse activities relying on each child’s creativity. Based on the series of Education Program for Children including Euro Weeks, Euro Weekend’s, Fun City-tours, Captain Sheep- Saturday morning sessions, Captain Sheep sessions here described give an image of the general goals of the main program. Those sessions will as well be a first step before developing the other activities.
The content of all the activities and in particular of the Saturday morning session is attractive for the children from 6 years old to 11 years old and for the parents. We do not only want to develop their curiosity but we also self-thinking and self-development have also a huge importance.
In January and February, Captain Sheep organized four sessions with diverse and interesting topics including Tet holiday and Carnival. The types of activities are diverse: handicraft, painting, telling story, out-door games when possible, etc. All the activities are related to a specific topic in order to structure the session but as well to give a meaning behind it. The diversity and the creativity of the activities help to keep the attention of the children by developing their curiosity and their eager to learn.
The first and second session took place on 25th of January with the topic “Learn about Tet holiday”. This topic approached both leisure and culture aspects.
On 15th and 22nd of February, Captain Sheep was going to discover a worldwide famous festival : THE CARNIVAL !
After joining the sessions, Captain Sheep received a number of positive feedbacks and to be eager to join next sessions which will be organized on April.
