On Saturday 6th May Global Volunteering Day (GVD) organised in partnership with Volunteer for Peace Vietnam (VPV) and CSDS took place. The event focused on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and represented the theme of ‘Active citizenship in Sustainable Development.’ It was a beautiful day and all of our Vietnamese and International volunteers got involved. There were over 30 different countries represented at the event in the form of different countries cultural booths and visitors and volunteers got to experience a taste of the food, culture and history of these diverse countries. The event was funded by the British Council and Irish Aid and they were represented at the event. As were many different social enterprises that promote active citizenship and sustainable development. GVD showed the enthusiasm of all of the volunteers and youth that are willing to get involved and make positive changes in their community. It was heart-warming and uplifting to see so many vibrant and energetic young people at the event. Over 1,000 tickets were sold and there was live entertainment from various bands and Vietnamese singers. The volunteers also performed different dances and songs from their respective countries which ensured a fun and exciting atmosphere throughout the day. Professional photographers captured the hard-work that went into the event and there was even national television cameras present. Well done to VPV and all the volunteers, the future is bright!GVD
